Former Fillmore Fire Chief Thomas A. Reeve, 73, died Aug. 8, at a Provo hospital.
Reeve was born Aug. 11, 1916, in Hinckley, Utah, to Arthur and Mary Cropper Reeve.
He married Alda Ekins Nov. 23, 1937, in the Salt Lake Temple.
Reeve worked for a government agency for 13 years before opening the El Capitol Motel and American gas station, which he operated for 28 years.
Reeve was a member of the city's volunteer fire department for 40 years, serving 10 years as chief. He also served as president of the Utah State Fire Chief Association.
He is survived by his wife of Fillmore and children Thomas Ross, Midvale, Mrs. Francis (Ailene) Nicolai, Pleasantville, N.Y.; Doyle Ekins, Chappaqua, N.Y.; Mrs. Paul (Janiel) Carver, Trabucco Canyon, Calif.; and 10 grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services were scheduled at the Fillmore 1st/4th Ward LDS Chapel. Burial is at the Fillmore Cemetery.
