Gerard E. "Bud" Friedrichs, age 85 of Sauk Centre, died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2009, at St. Michael's Hospital in Sauk Centre.

Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m., Monday, Jan. 19, at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Todd Schneider officiating. Interment was held in the parish cemetery.

Gerard Edmond Friedrichs was born on Aug.23, 1923, in Greenbush to Leo and Helen (Kulas) Friedrichs. On Feb. 5, 1946, he was united in marriage to Violet Wallin at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre. Bud spent his life farming and enjoyed playing cards, going to auctions and the casino, gambling, riding around on his gator and making a dollar. He was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre.

Bud is survived by his wife of 62 years, Violet Friedrichs of Sauk Centre; son, Jerry (Shirley) Friedrichs of Buffalo; daughter-in-law, Nancy Friedrichs of Sauk Centre; grandchildren, Jeff Friedrichs of Sauk Centre, Don Friedrichs of Sauk Centre, Aaron (Debbie) Friedrichs of Buffalo, Jason (Beth) Friedrichs of West St. Paul, Kacey (Chauncey) Neutgens of Buffalo and Sarah (Bryan Trinka) Friedrichs of Eagan; great-grandchildren, Jenna, Tyler, Deserae, Zachary, Austin, Kaylee, Hannah, Ella, Jimmy and George; brother, Cyril (Fern) Friedrichs of Sauk Centre; and sister, Irene Blank of Sauk Centre.

Bud was preceded in death by his son, Earl on June 24, 2008; grandson, Danny on May 18, 1986; granddaughter Jennifer on October 7, 1991; parents; brother, Jerome (Vivian) Friedrichs; step-sister, Rosemary Friedrichs; and brother-in-law, Bob Blank.

Serving as casket bearers were Jeff Friedrichs, Aaron Friedrichs, Jason Friedrichs, Don Friedrichs, Chauncey Neutgens and Steve Blank. Cross bearer was Kacey Neutgens and scripture bearer was Sarah Friedrichs.

Arrangements were made with Patton-Schad Funeral & Cremation Services, Sauk Centre.
