First Baptist Church, 669 West Main St., Sylva, N. C. 28779. A service of celebration of the life of the Rev. Robert Lawrence Clegg, June 9, 1930--May 12, 2008. Prelude: Entrance of the family: No. 547: I Stand Amazed in the Presence, stanzas 1 and 2: Scripture and Greeting: Prayer: Choral Duet: The Love Of God: Irene and Shelly Johnston: Scripture: A Time of Sharing: Choral Solo: The Holy City: Rebecca Crowe: Scripture and remarks: Benediction: Recessional: No. 547:> I stand Amazed in the Presence, Stanzas 3 and 4. The Rev. Robert Lawrence Clegg has now achieved his lifetime ambition to enter into the presence of God. His entire ministry has been given in pointing himself of God and pointing others of God's Kingdom. Rev. Clegg began his journey with Christ as a child in Jackson, Ms. at the age of 9 being baptized at Crystal Springs Baptist Church. Following high school, he entered Mississippi College and after completion received his seminary training at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, Wake Forest, N.C. He was ordained to the gospel ministry in 1950--served with dedication the cause of Baptist life. He is survived by his wife and partner Elois, their children, Cynthia and Ed Canada, Bob and Connie Clegg, Paula and John Morton and Cheri Clegg; their 4 grandchildren, Briony and Sean Kinnear, Mitch Underhill, Ruth and Turner Morton. Officiating ministers: The Revs. J. Kemmeth Byrd Jr., and Luther Dement. Interment will be at Sawyer Cemetery, in Bryson City, N.C. following service with the Revs. Paula Morton and John Morton, Luther Orment officiating at the graveside. Memorials may be made to Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 489, Bryson City, N.C. 36713. Pallbearers: Beecher Huskey, Phillip Lindsey, Ronnie Lindsey, Joe Payne, Tim Shipman, Walter Walsh. Service Participants: Rev.J. Kenneth Byrd Jr., Pastor, Rev.Luther Osmont, Asst.
