LON WILLIAMS, MILLS PIONEER, DIES TUESDAY

Mullin – Lon A. Williams, 72, member of a pioneer Mills County family, died Tuesday in a Brownwood hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday in the Mullin Church of Christ with Charles Hill, minister, officiating. Burial will be in Oakview Cemetery.

It was Williams' family for whom the Williams Ranch was named.

He was born Sept. 20, 1887 in Mills County and was a lifetime resident of the county. He was married to the former Lizzie Kelso Sept. 6, 1908 in Mullin.

Mr. Williams was a member of Mullin Church of Christ.

Surviving in addition to his wife are three sons, Leonard Williams of Dalhart, Victor Williams of Goldthwaite and Ward Williams of Anna; two daughters, Mrs. Mildred Wilkins of Burnet and Mrs. Ollene Blackburn of Houston; a brother, Burl Williams of San Francisco, Mexico; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Wilkins Funeral Home of Goldthwaite is in charge of arrangements.
