Lorene Patterson Carroll, 80, of Carrollton, died Aug. 25, 2008, in Carrollton Manor Nursing Home. She was born in Carroll County on Feb. 29, 1928, the daughter of the late Oscar and Maude Sullivan Patterson. She retired from Sewell Manufacturing Co. with more than 25 years of service and was a faithful member of Shady Grove Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Arnel Carroll; three brothers and four sisters.
Survivors include her children, Tommy and Barbara Carroll of Fayetteville, Shirley and Larry Hightower of Carrollton, Pat Pope of Whitesburg and Steve Carroll of Carrollton; three sisters, Mildred Dale of Austell, Katheryn Lueke and Gail Harper, both of Carrollton; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, Aug. 26, at 3 p.m. at the Shady Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Jerome Mitchell and Rev. Thurman Henderson officiating.
The remains will be placed at the church from 2 p.m. until the funeral hour. Music will be provided by Jason Henry. Pallbearers will be Tommy Carroll, David Hightower, Jason Ayers, Larry White, Ellis Skinner, and Bill Collins. Interment will follow in the Shady Grove Baptist Church cemetery.
