Sherry Lee Owen, age 56, of Fair Grove, MO, went to Glory on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at St. John's Hospital. She was born March 24, 1955, in Fort Scott, KS, to Billy and Eva (Lynn) Cook. Sherry was united in marriage to Eldon Owen on June 24, 1978 in Frederick, Kansas. She was a member of the Evergreen Church, where she was active in the church nursery. She was also a member of the James River Care Center Red Hat Society. She was a 1973 graduate of Bushton High School, Bushton Kansas, and a 1980 graduate of Southwest Baptist University. Sherry served as the activities director for the James River Care Center the past eight years. She liked to cross stitch and crochet,work with leather, make jewelry, and loved to shop.
She was preceded in death by her preborn son Jonathan Owen; father Billy Lee Cook; and her father- in-law Herschel Owen. She is survived by her husband Eldon Owen, Fair Grove, MO; two sons, Jared Owen and wife Carla of Springfield, and Joshua Owen and wife Connie of Springfield; one granddaughter, Annelise Owen of Springfield; her mother, Eva Cook of Springfield; one sister, Donna Crawford and husband Darrel of Fair Grove, MO; mother-in-law,Twila Owen of Maysville, MO; and a host of family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, July 9, 2011, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North, Springfield, MO with Rev. Stephen Mathis officiating. Burial will be held at Bass Chapel Cemetery, Greene County, MO. Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. on Friday, July 8, 2011 at Greenlawn Funeral Home North. In lieu of flowers, Sherry requested balloon bouquets at her funeral or memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society. Services have been entrusted to Greenlawn Funeral Home North, Springfield, MO.
