ASSUMPTION -- Cleo Eugene Waters, 69, of Assumption died 3:10 p.m. Thursday (Sept. 12, 1996) in Decatur Memorial Hospital.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Oconee. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday in Seitz Funeral Home, Assumption. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Oconee. Memorials: American Cancer Society.

Mr. Waters was born in Pana on July 10, 1927, the son of Levert and Mamie Taylor Waters. He retired from Caterpillar Inc. in Decatur. He married Mary Esther Hoehn on Jan. 28, 1950, in Pana. She preceded him in death on Jan. 12, 1976.

He is survived by his daughters, Mary Catherine Peters of Taylorville; Donna Jean Thurber and husband David of Pawnee; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; mother, Mamie Waters of Pana; one brother and seven sisters.

He was preceded in death by his father, wife, one brother and one grandson, Anthony Thurber.
