The funeral of R. R. (Dick) Akard, Jr., 904 Dickson Ave., who died in an automobile accident Thursday at Vincennes, Ind., will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Fry-Gibbs chapel here, conducted by the Rev. Gene Burgess of Immanuel Baptist Church.
Interment will be made in Meadowbrook Memorial Park will military rites, pallbearers to be James Durham, W. E. Fletcher, Joe Head, Robert Glass, Dennis Dickerson and Otis Dickerson.
The body will arrive here Sunday at 12:30 p.m. on the Frisco train.
Mr. Akard, a first lieutenant in the Air Force during World War II, flew 90 European missions and received both the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal, besides other decorations. At the time of his death, he had been
employed several months in Vincennes as an electrical engineer.
He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. R. R. Akard here, his wife being the former Miss Lois Dickerson here.
