Son of Luther Stevens (1804-1850) and Celestia Freelove (Sprague) Stevens (1807-1863).
He married, Mary Ann Hamilton 27 September 1857. Nine children were born to this union; William Buel Stevens 1862- ?, Annie Love (Stevens) Adams 1865-1943, Effie A. Stevens 1868- ?, Clark Aaron (or Aaron Clark) Stevens 1870- ?, Mary Emma (Stevens) Ludwick 1873-1935, Hamilton "Ross" Stevens 1876-1944, Lois (Stevens) McIntyre 1879-1952, Edward Alonzo Stevens 1858- ? & Olive Isabelle (Stevens) Adams 1859-1888.
Union Civil War Vet., Moore's Calvary Reg. Missouri Home Guard Co. B also Co. I, 21st Missouri Vol. Inf. Reg..
Buel was a retired grain & livestock farmer. And a minister of the gospel.

OBITUARY
Buel Stevens, son of Luther and Love Stevens,was born near Decatur, Macon Co., Ill., May 18, 1834. Departed this life April 24, 1922, aged 87 years, 11 months and 6 days.
He came to Scotland Co., Mo., with his parents in the spring of 1844 where they settled on a farm five miles northeast of Memphis.
In September 1857 he was married to Mary Hamilton. To this union were born nine children, four boys and five girls of which seven are now living: W.B. Stevens, of Queen City, Mo.; Mrs. O.E. Adams of Rocky Ford, Colo.; Mrs. H.C. Elder, of Watonga, Okla.; A.C. Stevens of Fayette, Mo.;Mrs. P.Q. Ludwick of near Memphis; H.R. Stevens of Brookfield, Mo.; and Mrs. Glen McIntyre of Memphis. Beside the children he leaves 36 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews scattered throughtout the United States. He is the last of his family, he having 10 brothers and sisters to go before.
His wife died a year ago in February, since then he made his home thith his daughter, Mrs. Glen McIntyre. He was very lonly but patient, trying to be satisfied and pleasant for the sake of others, always wanting to do something to make the world better and brighter.
