William F. Bartlett
William F. Bartlett, a World War II Army veteran and resident of 237 School St. died at Putnam Memorial Hospital Friday afternoon after a long illness.
He was born in Shaftsbury March 5, 1915, a son of Charles and Florence (Adams) Bartlett, and received his education in Bennington schools.
He was married to the former Ruth Greene in Bennington at the First Baptist Church Jan 20, 1950.
In earlier years Mr. Bartlett was employed at Marshall's Garage and also at the E-Z Mill. For the last 11 years he worked at the Bijur Lubricating Co. He enjoyed fishing and boating.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Besides his wife, he leaves a stepdaughter, Mrs. Jesse (Mary) Moon of Bennington; a stepson, Keith J. Merrow of Bennington; four brothers, Charles Jr., James E. and Carl, all of Bennington, and Harold of Castleton, N.Y.; five grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A military funeral will be held from the Mahar and Son Funeral Home Monday afternoon at 2 with the Rev. Floyd I. LaBombard pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating.
Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 when the family will be in attendance. Entombment will be in Park Lawn Chapel with burial in the spring.
