Fay Louise Sigmund (1949-2011)


POTTSBORO - Fay Louise Sigmund, 61, went peacefully to her heavenly home Tuesday, July 5, 2011 after a long six-and-a-half year courageous battle with cancer.
Fay was born July 25, 1949 in Dallas, the daughter of Walter and Mildred (Gilmore) Leavell Jr. Fay married the love of her life, Frank Sigmund Dec. 31, 1996 in Pottsboro. For seven years, she was employed with Texoma Medical Center. She was currently the President of the American Legion Auxiliary and a member of the VFW Auxiliary. Fay enjoyed visiting with her American Legion family. Fay was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Faye is survived by her loving family, husband, Frank Sigmund of Pottsboro; daughter, Karen Fay Blankenship of Denison; step-children, Shane Sigmund and Terri Sigmund, eight step-grandchildren, sister, Carolyn Ayers and husband David of Fredericksburg; nieces, Lecette Ferguson and husband Rob, Tausha Leavell and Eryka Leavell; and one nephew, Don "Buster" Rose and wife Annette. Fay was preceded in death by her parents, Walter "Bud" and Mildred Leavell Jr and brother, Walter "Buddy" Leavell III.
Mrs. Sigmund was cremated according to her wishes. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 10, 2011 at the American Legion Post 231, 133 Army Ave. in Pottsboro.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to the American Legion Auxiliary Cancer Research Fund, P. O. Box 592, Pottsboro, TX 75076.
