VELMA M. HUTCHISON Richland, Wash. With her family by her side, Velma Maxine (Shockley) Hutchison, of Richland, WA, departed this life and went to be with the Lord at 7:05 p.m. on April 17, 2011, at the age of 80 years, 9 months and 7 days. She was one of two children of Raymond H. Shockley and Maudie G. (Adkins) Shockley and Granddaughter of Benjamin McCulloch and Cordelia (Armer) Adkins. Velma was born July 10, 1930, in Bland, MO. She attended Grade School and 3 years of High School at Bland, MO, then 1 year of High School at Belle, MO, High School where she graduated in May 1948. Mrs. Hutchison was united in marriage to Leonard Buel Hutchison, son of Francis Tony and Georgia (Bishop) Hutchison, August 14, 1948. He survives at the home. To this union two children were born: Steven Lynn and Elaine Kay Hutchison. Velma was preceded in death by her Father January 2, 1996, and her Mother November 21, 2001. Those left to mourn the passing of Mrs. Hutchison are one son, Steven Lynn and his wife, Billie Marie (Isaacs) Hutchison of Kennewick, WA; and one daughter, Elaine Kay of Snohomish, WA; two grandchildren, Tyson M. Hutchison and friend Heather Coleman of Richland, and Aaron P. Hutchison and wife Amber of La Grande, OR; and one great-granddaughter, Renee Aaron Hutchison. Also one Sister, Norma June (Kinkead) Faus of St Louis, MO, and numerous nieces and nephews. Velma accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age and maintained her belief and faith throughout her lifetime and has kept that faith which was strengthened by the upbringing and teachings of her family. She was always grateful for her good Christian parents and the upbringing they gave her. She had a kind and loving Mother who taught her kindness, friendliness and good will toward all. Velma was also especially thankful for her father whose quiet, gentle manner brought kindness, comfort, strength and guidance to her and was a highly respected individual known for his honesty, fairness and integrity. Velma patterned her life in similar fashion. Velma 's professional career was in Banking, where she worked as a Bank Teller and Officer in Illinois and Washington where her utmost desire was to serve and help customers with their problems and needs. She was a devoted housewife and homemaker who liked nothing better than to be with family. She loved flowers and things of beauty as evidenced by her smiling face. Her friendship and encouragement was evident with neighbors, churches, in workplaces and in the many places she lived and worked. Her attitude was always positive and even if things were not going well, she would point out the good things. Many fond memories will remain in the hearts of the family, who thru the many years, grew to appreciate her concern, devotion and love for the family. Velma 's Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, April 27, 2011, at 10 a.m. at Riverton Retirement & Assisted Living, 1800 Bellerive Drive, Richland, WA.
