James Edward Rowse, Route 4, Mt Pleasant died at his home early Wednesday, January 23.
Mr. Rowse was born on May 16, 1892 in Jasper Township, Midland County. He owned a store in Potterville until he retired about four or five months ago. He was formerly a resident of Howell; but had lived in this area for six years. He was a member of the Shepherd I.O.O.F Lodge.
Surviving him is his wife Mary, three sons, Duane of Flint, Gale of Stockbridge and Arnold of Howell; four step-daughters, Mrs. Austin Burke, Route 3, St Louis, Mrs. Henry Huntoon, Route 3, St Louis, Mrs. Fred Woods of Elwell and Mrs. Henry Leonard of Route 2 St Louis; two step-sons, Cline Salisbury, Route 3 St Louis and Mazel Salisbury of Ithaca; three sisters, Mrs. Lottie Ricketts of Lansing, Miss Elsie Rowse of Porter and Mrs. Mary Raymond of Durand and many grand and great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the Garber Funeral Home in Shepherd on Friday, January 25 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. James Estep officiating, interment was in the Salt River Cemetery.∼Son of Henry Heman and Orpha Alice (Keith) Rouse. He married Ora Fern Harry on June 11, 1913.
