IF ANYONE HAS ANY FURTHER INFORMATION PLEASE ADVISE: [email protected]. Story: Catherine married Matt without knowning him. Matt was a friend of her father's from the old country. Catherine wanted to be a Nun. Her mother died leaving the children under the care of an Aunt - probably a sister inlaw of Ignatz, her father. Prior to her marriage, she never knew Matt Printz/Prince - he lived in Wisconsin, she in Michigan. Matt's 1st wife died during childbirth leaving him with 4 small children to raise. He left Wisconsin to marry Catherine in Michigan and take her back to his small farm in Sigel, Wood Co. WI. (somewhat like a mail order bride). His first four children could not speak english - only polish - they could not read or write. Catherine taught them well and sent them to Catholic School. She married Matt quickly at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Saginaw and left directly for Sigel, Wood Co., WI - her father telling her that she was needed as a mother to these motherless children so she left in 1886, not seeing her family again until 1914. She was a devote Catholic - She died during a miscarriage in 1918. Her oldest daughter, Helen E. Prince was my grandmother.
