Ivan Virgil Smith, 58, of Huntington, husband of Anna Jean Miller Smith, died Saturday at his residence. Also surviving are two daughters, Judy Hensley of Huntington and Joyce Peters of Durham, N.C.; four sons, Rodney Duane Smith of Charlotte, N.C., Virgil Lee Smith of Hampton, Va., Ricky Allen Smith of Houston, Texas, and William Everett Smith of Corpus Christi, Texas; and two stepdaughters, Jeanette Davis of Huntington and Wynema Wilson of Belmont. Funeral 2 p.m. Tuesday at Matheny Funeral Home, Elizabeth; burial in [Knights of Pythias] Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Chapman’s Mortuary, Huntington and after 1 p.m. Tuesday at Matheny Funeral Home.
Ivan worked for International Nickel Co., INCO, in Huntington, W.Va. He married, first, Dorothy Jean "Dottie" Honaker 8 Jun 1952 in Boyd Co., Ky., and had six children with her.
