John Z. Towne, 83 died at his home, 36 C Northwest at 2:25 pm Monday. A retired farmer, Mr. Towne had lived in Miami the past five years. He moved here from a farm southeast of Fairland, where he had resided for several years. He was a member of Miami's First Christian Church and Mason ___ ? ___.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Pearle Towne, of the home, two daughters, Mrs E D Logan, Tulsa, and Mrs. C W Tidwell, Sioux Falls, SD; two sisters, Mrs. E D Burnett(?), Henderson, KY and Mrs. Betty Hollingsworth, Princeton, KY; 8 granchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Wednesday in the prayer chapel of the First Christian Church with the Russell Martin officiating. Burial will be in GAR cemetary under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home.
