Gr Uncle Dan was born to William(Bill) and Mary Elizabeth Miller Arrans/Aarons 26 June 1884 in MS. He died at age 83 in Mason, Tenn. at the home of a son, Johnny. His middle name is sometimes spelled Higgins. He had at least five siblings; Rosie Arrans (Married James Frank Presley), Edith(Eddie) Alice Arrans (Jim Ryan), Willie Caroline Arrans (Frank Baldwin), Harry Arrans(Mar.Nancy Viola Miller) and Mary Frances (Mollie) Polk-Sam Corbin (half sister). Mary Elizabeth married a Polk after the death of Bill Arrans. Dan married Icie Dora Hill around 1905 with whom he had eleven or more children; Johnny R.(b. 1906), Robert Cecil(B. 1913), Flossie (B. 1907), Willard A.-B. 1918(died young), Weslie M.(B.1920), Myrtle I.(B.1922), Essie Lona(B. 1924), Lucy (B. 1926), Ina Mae (B.1909), Vice Lee, Alma V.(B.1918). According to census records the family made their home in MS, AR, and TN at one time or other. He suffered from diabetes near the end of his life and lost one or more limbs.
