Mel was born to Joseph & Hazel Solberg. He attended school there and farmed with his father. On June 27, 1951 he and Beverly Kellar were married at St. Jospeh's Catholic Church in Williston, ND. They lived and farmed in the Wheelock area for a short time before moving to Williston. Mel worked in the oil fields and at oil field supply and repair shops in the area. The family moved to Burnsville, MN in July 1964 and he worked as a mechanic at Interstate Diesel in Bloomington, until 1967. He then spent the next 17years commutting on a totational basis to the Alaskan North Slopes where he worked until he retired in October 1984. He also owned and operated a repair shop near Elko, MN. Melvin Solberg is survived by his wife Beverly and seven children all living in Minnesota. Vonda, David (Mary Ann) Solberg, Loral (Jim) Debbie (Clark, Mark Solberg and Sherry (John) , and DeeDee Solberg and 17 grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and a sister Linda in Williston, ND
