LeRoy “Lee” Block, 87, of Watertown, died on Sunday, Sept. 12, 2010, at his home. Lee was born Aug. 5, 1923, in Watertown, son of Arthur and Marcella (Buntrock) Block. During World War II, Lee served three years in the Army Air Corps as a B-17 radio operator, and later, B-29 radio operator in the Western Flying Training Command. Following the war, he resumed his education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, graduating in 1949 with a major in public relations and journalism. Block was an employee of the Macmillan/McGraw-Hill Publishing Company of New York for 46 years. He served as a textbook representative and educational consultant in New York City and the Midwest during his tenure. In 1953 he married Virginia Soper in Emmetsburg, Iowa. Survivors include his wife; brothers, Tom and Roger; sister, Carol, and three sons, James, Cory, and Jonathon, and four grandchildren, Alex, Greta, Erika and Sarah. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Thomas and Todd; and one sister, Betty.
