Angels Camp native Peggy Joyce (Romaggi) Richards died Aug. 30 at her home in Stockton. She was 83.
Mrs. Richards was born in Angels Camp, the youngest of three children of Jack and Minnie Romaggi. Her father was a third generation California native, and her family history traces back to 1848. She graduated from Bret Harte High School in 1942 and then left for San Francisco to work for Pacific Telephone and Telegraph. She returned to Angels Camp in 1946 to work at the local phone company. She went to work for AT&T in Stockton in 1948. She retired in 1984. Mrs. Richards was a charter member of the Communication Workers of America and Telephone Pioneers.
She also was in a bridge club and was a member of the Calaveras County Historical Society, spending many hours researching her family history.
She is survived by her sister, Lois Fuher; son and daughter-in-law, Wallace and Karen Richards; granddaughter, Karilyn Richards; and niece, Pam Arana.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother and sister-in-law, Lauren and Ann Romaggi; and brother-in-law, Edward Fuher.
