MANITOU BEACH — Grace A. Perry, 81, of Manitou Beach, died on Saturday, Dec. 19, 1998, at her home. She was born on May 26, 1917, in Toledo, Ohio, to Gustaz and Martha (Schultz) Pfund. She lived her early life in Toledo and then in the Manitou Beach area since 1937. She graduated from Scott High School in Toledo in 1935. She married James W. Perry on Sept. 27, 1939, in Toledo, and he preceded her in death on July 13, 1980. Grace and Jim owned and operated Perry's Between the Lakes Restaurant until 1967 and influenced the lives of the young people who worked for them. She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Cambridge Junction, Hope Lutheran Church in Adrian and a present member of the Lutheran Church of the Lakes in Addison. She had a Bible study group at her home, was a member of the church choir, lead a Bible study group at Hope Lutheran Church and transcribed Braille for 30 years. Surviving are two sons, Thomas J. Perry of San Diego, Calif., and David A Perry and his wife, Cheryl of Adrian; six grandchildren, Katrina (Troy) Butts, Kristina Perry and Karina (Robert) Johnson, Tom Perry, all of San Diego, Calif., Michelle Perry of Ypsilanti and David Perry of Tecumseh; three great-grandchildren, Mason and Emilee Butts and Kate Johnson; one brother, Richard Pfund of Hawkinsville, Ga., and one sister, Mrs. Evelyn Dorothy White of Toledo. She was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters, Ruth Tripp and Helen Kerentoff, and a brother infancy. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23, 1998, at Hope Lutheran Church in Adrian, with Pastor Paul Herter and Pastor David Gadbaw officiating. Burial will be made in Green's Lakeside Cemetery, Manitou Beach. Visitation will be from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday at the Brown-Van Hemert Funeral Home in Addison. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions to the Lutheran Mission with Blind Persons, Hospice of Lenawee, Hope Lutheran Church, Adrian, or the Lutheran Church of the Lakes, Addison.
