Pete attended school at Rankin and Reydon. He entered the United States Air Force in January of 1943, and served his country for three years. Fourteen and one-half months were spent overseas.
He was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge in Reydon, Pete spent his entire life in the Reydon community where he was a farmer and rancher. He owned and operated the Burks Garage in Reydon for several years until he retired due to ill health.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy, and daughter, Pamela Ann of the home; also three broth,rs. Paul of Reydon: Charles of Cushing: and Bennie of Dumas, Texas. Two sisters, Grace Crabtree of Elk City; and Martha Wilder of Santa Ana, California; Two half-sisters, Fern Thrash of Jefferson City, MO.; and Bonnie Payne of Rohnert Park, California. One aunt, Mrs. Grace Richardson of Reydon. Serveral neices, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents, one brother and two half-brothers.
Pete was a very civic minded individual who showed his great love for his fellow man ready to serve others. He will truly be missed by his loved ones and his many, many friends, who have learned to love and appreciate him.
Funeral services were held Thursday, January 24, 1977, at 2:00 p.m. in the Reydon Community Building with Rev. Eddie Overstreet officiating. Burial was in the White Rose Cemetery under the direcion of the Rose Chapel Funeral Service.
