"Lee" Wesley H. Kreger, 71 years of age, and a resident of Lorain, passed away Thursday, February 11, 2010 at the New Life Hospice Residential Center in Lorain following a two-month illness.
He was born February 7, 1939 in Amherst. A lifetime resident of Amherst, he graduated from the former Central High School in Amherst with the class of 1957.
Lee owned and operated the Westside Tractor and Marine in Lorain for forty-nine years. He was a social member of the Amherst American Legion Post #118 and the Amherst Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie Post #1442. He was dedicated to maintaining a growing business and enjoyed spending time with his companion, Karen as well as boating.
Survivors include his sons Rick Kreger of Amherst, Dean Kreger of Tennessee, and Drew (Teresa) Kreger of Vermilion; his daughter Rhonda Kreger-Wells of Lorain County; his granddaughters Jenna and Jessica Kreger of Vermilion, grandson Matthew Kreger and granddaughter Meghan Kreger, both of Tennessee, as well as four additional grandchildren; his brother Thomas Kreger of Lorain; and his companion of two years Karen Butler of Lorain.
He was preceded in death by his father Wesley Kreger and mother Jean (Nichol) Kreger.
Friends may call Sunday, February 14, 2010, from 4 - 7 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 15, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. from the funeral home. The Rev. Cliff Morris, pastor of Lakeview Baptist Church in Vermilion, will officiate. Burial will be in Brownhelm Cemetery, Brownhelm Township.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Animal Protective League; 8303 Murray Ridge Rd., Elyria, OH 44035.
