Gabriel M. Scott
Private services for Gabriel M. Scott, 71, retired machinist and long-term resident of Wilmington, will be held at 1 p. m. Monday from the McCrery Funeral Home, 3202 Market Street, with burial in Riverview Cemetery. There will be no viewing.
Mr. Scott died Thursday in a convalescent home in Tampa, Fla., where he had been a patient since suffering a stroke 18 months age. He moved from Wilmington to Tampa three years ago and his address there was 258 South Broad Street.
While in Wilmington he had lived for a long time at 911 Jefferson Street. Retired several years before moving to Florida, Mr. Scott had been a machinist with the Pyrites Company here for many years.
Born and raised in Alabama, he had lived in Wilmington since 1932. He was a veteran of World War I.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Gladys Scott; six sons, Joseph F. and G. M. Scott, Jr., both of Mobile, Ala., Fred and Robert, both of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Cecil and Richard Scott, both of Wilmington; four daughters, Mrs. William Potts and Mrs. Webb Potts, both of Philadelphia, Mrs. Kathryn King, Wilmington, and Miss Joan Louise Scott, Mobile; four brothers, Joseph F., St. Petersburg, Theodore, Wilmington, William, Anniston, Ala., and Hugh, Bakersfield, Calif; five sisters, Mrs. Lottie A. Landrum, St. Petersburg, Mrs. Lillian Moore, Anniston, Mrs. Lucille Hollingsworth and Mrs. Mae Hickman, both of Bakersfield, and Mrs. Helen Broadbent, Wilmington, 14 Grandchildren, and his step-mother, Mrs. Lena Scott, Bakersfield.
