In the 1910 census Marion, 24, was listed as a music teacher. She was counted alongside her widowed father and her newlywed sister and brother-in-law: Naomi and Wallace Gay. Also at the 34 Woodland Avenue home were her brother Paul, sister Alice and a Swedish live-in servant named Hanna Arneson.

By 1920 Miss Wilder would move down the street, to 205 Woodland Ave., into her sister Naomi Gay's home. The Gay's had two children: Virginia, 9 and Mary, 1. Wallace Gay was a salesman at a garage and his wife was the treasurer. Marion did not have an occupation listed that year.
