Our beloved Keith Hayes, husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, friend, mentor, neighbor, and all around great guy, left us on July 1, 2011.

Born September 9, 1953, Keith is survived by his wife of thirty-five years, Janis Marie Holdener Hayes; son, Scott (Kelli Smith); daughter, Pepper; and four beautiful grandchildren, Michael, Emily, Matthew, and Kadyn. Also survived by his mother, Edna; six siblings, Graham (Carla), Verna Stark (Ted), Brenda Harmer, Beverly White (Frank), Carol Bennett (Craig), and Jeffrey (Steve Parker); and many other loving family members and friends. Preceded in death by his father, Horace Hayes.

Keith loved his family dearly. He was proud of his wife, Marie, and her many talents, often saying, "Oh, it's not me, it's Marie, I couldn't do it without her." His children, Scott and Pepper, were his life; he was always speaking of their accomplishments and how proud he was of them. He relished his time with his grandchildren, enjoyed playing with them and teaching them.

Keith was always there for his family and they knew he loved them. Keith's mother, brothers, and sisters are so proud of him. He always knew when someone needed him and he would appear. When something needed to be done, he just did it. Whatever the task, he knew how to do it and did everything well. He was our rock.

Keith was a pillar in the real estate community for the past thirty-six years. He served in many capacities at the Salt Lake Board of Realtors, was Realtor of the Year in 2004, and was known in the industry as the "go-to-guy" for help.

Keith will be remembered for his laugh, kindness, generosity, helping hand, determination, and loving nature. He freely shared his time, talents, and business knowledge. He gave every person he knew or worked with his best. We love him dearly and he will remain in our hearts always.

In lieu of flowers, please donate blood to the Red Cross, as Keith always made this a priority in his life.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 7, 2011 at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State Street (100 East), with a visitation for family and friends prior to the services from 10:00-10:45 a.m. A "Celebration of Life" will also be held at the Salt Lake Board of Realtors auditorium, 230 West Town Ridge Park Way (9670 South), Sandy, between the hours of 2:00-5:00 p.m. on Friday, July 8, 2011.
