CAMBRIA -- Mary Evans, 88, died Tuesday, July 5, 2011, in Herrin Hospital.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, July 8, 2011, in Pleasant Grove Memorial Gardens in Murphysboro, with Pastor Joe Hamon officiating.
Riggin-Pillatsch and Burke Funeral Home in Carterville is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Williamson County Programs on Aging or Meals on Wheels Program.

Cambria - Mary Lee Evans, 88, of Cambria, died Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at Herrin Hospital, with her daughter by her side.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday July 8, 2011 in Pleasant Grove Memorial Gardens in Murphysboro, with Pastor Joe Hamon officiating. Friends are asked to go directly to the cemetery. Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Williamson County Programs on Aging, Meals on Wheels Program, 1201 Weaver Road, Herrin, IL 62948.

Mary Lee was born on November 7, 1922 in Carbondale to Paul and Bonnie Lee (Severs) Smith. She married Leland Eugene Hopper on August 8, 1941 in Jackson, Mo. He preceded her in death on November 10, 1959. She later married George Taylor Evans on August 27, 1966 in West Frankfort. He preceded her in death on October 16, 1992.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sharen and Bill Oakley of Cambria; son and daughter-in-law, Paul Eugene and Pamela Hopper of Rialto, Calif.; grandchildren and their spouses, Bobby Oakley of Cambria and Heather and David Brown of Cape Girardeau; and great-grandchildren, Aiden Brown and Camden Brown, both of Cape Girardeau.

Mary Lee was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; daughter, Janet Hopper; and grandson, Justin Hopper.

She worked as a seamstress at Good Luck Glove Factory, Smoler Brothers and at Intuitions until she retired. Mary Lee was a member of Cambria First Christian Church and Carterville Senior Citizens. She enjoyed fishing and quilting with the ladies at church. She will be dearly missed
