James O. "Jack" Hodgkins, 88, of Clifton, died May 7. Funeral services were held in the Clifton Funeral Home Chapel on May 9. Burial was in the New Energy Cemetery near Crockett.
Mr. Hodgkins was born Nov. 20, 1911 in Palo Pinto County, the son of Jesse W. and Mary Katherine Gilbert Hodgkins. He attended the John Tarleton Agricultural College and served in the Army during World War II. He worked for Lone Star Gas Company before his retirement in 1976 after 44 years of service.
He was married to Stacy Elizabeth "Beth" Lane in Palestine on June 9, 1945. They moved to Hamilton in 1949 and lived there until moving to Clifton in 1984. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Hamilton. Survivors include his wife of Clifton; a daughter, Jackie Smith and husband Mike of Waco; a brother, C.L. "Cop" Hodgkins of Strawn and several nieces
and nephews.
