He had several camps etc in Hemet, Beaumont, San Jacinto Mountains, etc. He and his family were reassigned to start or rebuild churches from San Louis Obispo to Escondido, to Long Beach to San Diego. As a young man Carl developed TB. His father moved from Ohio to Iowa but the weather was detrimental to Carl so he headed west to a drier climate.

When Carl and Rose married the two witnesses were her mother and his mother.

Rose's grandfather Hiram J Deyo was a builder and engineer. He designed and built the hotel in Beaumont, "The Beaumont" restaurant and a sleuth for gold mining in the mountains.

her father Noah was a farmer in Beaumont area.

Carl, his brother Fred and Deyo in-laws were instrumental in the development of the Sunnyslope Cemetery.

Carl & Rose's son Roy H Ross is buried in Section 43 Grave 4.
