From Lester Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home, Inc.: Obituaries Tuesday, July 5, 2011:

Marie was born to Guy Wilson and Nannie (Lewis) Wilson on March 14, 1921 in Martin Co., IN. She was the third of four children in the family. As a young girl she was very much a tomboy and worked in the fields with her father and brother. Her father's nickname for her was Tom and she later gave that name to her youngest son.

During WWII she worked at Crane and earned a managers position. She married Ivan Price on Sept. 7, 1946 at the Court House in Bloomfield, IN after his return from The War. She said the fact that he has been half way around the world and still wanted to marry her made her think it would last. They were married 42-1/2 years until his death on April 30, 1989. They had three children: Jack, Sherri and Tom.

Marie worked at, and ran the Eastern School Cafeteria serving the first meal at the school. Working at the school helped her provide for the family on a schedule where she could be home in evenings and summers with her kids. For many years all the students knew and loved her baking, especially her dinner rolls and cinnamon rolls. Marie was a very proud, strong and loving person. Her main focus and pride in life was her family. In 2002 she suffered the loss of her beloved daughter Sherri (Price) Brinker.

Marie is preceded in death by her parents, husband Ivan, her daughter Sherri, sisters Lucille Wilson Church and Hazel Wilson Lewis, and her brother Fred Wilson.

She is survived by her son Jack Price and wife Sara Baker Price, son Tom and wife Blenda Basye Price; son-in-law Earl Brinker; grandchildren Ben Price (Sarah), Matthew Brinker, Kelly Brinker St. Pierre (Mike), Justin Price and Trevor (Katie) Price. She was Aunt Rie to her nieces, nephews and their families.

Marie has a host of cousins, friends and family that she loved and who loved her. She epitomized the family matriarch for our family. There will be a void in all our hearts.

Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 8, 2011 at Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Rev. Erin Raper officiating. Interment will follow in Walnut Grove cemetery in rural Bloomfield.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to services Friday at the funeral home.

This poem was written by Marie to express her view of life:

What is Life to you my friend
Or do you even care
Or think of Life, that strange, magnetic, intangible Thing
That every soul must bear.

A subtle Thing, as a bird on wing
That can take it's flight as in the night
Unbeknown to man.
A placid Thing, a beautiful Thing,
Untouched by human hands

So in the night Her soul takes flight
It shall not be in vain
For through the Darkness there shall be Light
And She shall live again.
