South Bend Tribune (South Bend, Ind.), Monday evening, April 4, 1949:
"MRS. CLARA V. WITWER
Mrs. Clara V. Witwer, aged 74, of 3618 Lincoln Way East, Mishawaka, died in St. Joseph hospital there at 1:07 a.m. today after six weeks illness. She was born in Walkerton, this county, Oct. 31, 1874, and lived in South Bend, Mishawaka and the county all her life. Her husband, Charles Witwer, died in 1944. She leaves a daughter, Mrs. Vera Hill, with whom she made her home, two sons, Arthur and Robert Witwer of South Bend, four grandchildren and one great-grandchild; two sisters, Mrs. Pearl Joles of South Bend and Mrs. Bertha Zimmerman of Mishawaka, and two brothers, Edward McDaniel, of Benton Harbor, Mich., and Leonard McDaniel of South Bend. She was a charter member of the River Park Church of Christ. Friends may call in the Hollis funeral home after 7 p.m. Tuesday and until the funeral at 2 p.m. Thursday in the River Park church. Rev. O. T. Sparrow, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery, Mishawaka."
