Robert W. Lyons, 77, of Bellefontaine and formerly of Rushsylvania, died at 12:43 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, 2006, in his residence.

He was born in Bellefontaine on Aug. 12, 1928, a son of the late Roy H. Lyons and Anna Ruth Dunson Marker.

On Aug. 21, 1949, he married the former Patricia Beck in Rushsylvania and she survives, along with a son, Douglas (Becky) Lyons of Rushsylvania; daughter, Deborah (Jack) Roberts of Bellefontaine; grandchildren, Junell (Mark) Bible, James Lyons, Bethany (Justin) Ransbottom and Jeremy (JoVonna) Lyons; and great-grandchildren, Kaylor Ransbottom, Keaton Ransbottom, Jack Charles Bible and Gabrielle Lyons.

In 1990, he retired as a conductor for the New York Central, Penn Central and Co.nrail railroads after 42 years of service.

He was a member and usher at the Rushsylvania United Methodist Church, was a U.S. Army veteran, and member of the Rushsylvania Lions Club and Bellefontaine Masonic Lodge 309.

The Rev. A.W. Purdin conducts a funeral at 11 a.m. Monday at Eichholtz Funeral Home, Rushsylvania, where calling is 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday. Burial is in Rushsylvania Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Universal Home Health & Hospice Care and his church.
