Herbert "Herb" Daughtry

Herbert "Herb" Daughtry, 84, died of a brief illness Friday, Aug. 26 at Green Hills Care Home. Born in Portsmouth, Va., he was a resident of American Canyon.

Herbert was a nuclear sub inspector at Mare Island for 10 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during W.W. II and was aboard many ships such as the USS Bushnell, USS Tinosa, USS Hardhead, USS Icefish and the USS Burgara. He had many stories of the great deeds those ships performed. Herbert also enjoyed golfing until his disablement.

Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Alma Daughtry; sons, Earl Daughtry (Kathleen) and Jerry and Berry Daughtry; stepson, Alan Wasner (Cindy); grandchildren, Stephan, Elizabeth and Annette; and longtime friend, Pat Johnson.

An inurnment will take place at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery.

Arrangements under the direction of Wiggins-Knipp Funeral Home, Vallejo.
