Frank William Bremer was born Frank Bremer. He was the son of Franz Bremer and Ernestine Steinke. He was the oldest of six children. His brothers and sisters were; Lydia, Laura, Albert, Ernestine, and Edward.
Frank was raised in the German Lutheran faith. The German Lutherans had their own schools where German was the primary language. Frank began his education in one such school located on Buffalo's west side. When the family moved across town to the "Lovejoy," section, Frank attended public school 43. He attended school until about the age of 14.
After leaving school Frank worked as a laborer on the railroad, working his way up to the position of fireman.
Frank's middle name first appears in the year 1913, when he was he Best Man in his sister Lydia's wedding. He probably adopted the middle name, William, after his Confirmation in the Lutheran Church. This was the custom in Europe, where his family was from.
Frank served in the US Army during World War I. While in the Army, Frank was with the 51st Pioneer Infantry, fighting in France.
After the war, Frank worked as a locamotive engineer. In 1925 he met Angeline Aquino (Queeno). Angeline was the daughter of Lorenzo Aquino and Emma Vitale (Cardonueto.)
When Frank realized he wanted to marry Angeline, he converted to catholism to please her. They married on May 6, 1925. The couple would have 4 children, Margaret, Albert, Gene, and Ernestine.
Frank died of cancer at the Veterans' Hospital in Batavia.
