Frank William Bremer was born Frank Bremer. He was the son of Franz Bremer and Ernestine Steinke. He was the oldest of six children. His brothers and sisters were; Lydia, Laura, Albert, Ernestine, and Edward.

Frank began his education in one such school located on Buffalo's west side. When the family moved across town to the "Lovejoy," section, Frank attended public school 43. He attended school until about the age of 14.
After leaving school Frank worked as a laborer on the railroad, working his way up to the position of fireman.

When Frank realized he wanted to marry Angeline, he converted to catholism to please her. They married on May 6, 1925. The couple would have 4 children, Margaret, Albert, Gene, and Ernestine.
