Mildred Boliver Townsend, age 81, passed from this earth on Saturday, September 2, 2006, after a long illness of Parkinson's Disease.

Mildred was born at Roebuck, New Mexico on July 3, 1925 to Owen and Willie "Toddie" Boliver.

At age 6 years, her family moved from Plainview. Texas to Fence Lake, New Mexico. Mildred graduated from Fence Lake High School in 1944.

On September 24, 1945, she married her childhood friend, Van R. Townsend. They lived in various locations raising their three daughters while Van completed his Air Force career.

In 1971, they moved to Los Chávez, New Mexico, where they lived the rest of their lives. Mildred enjoyed her role as housewife and mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great great-grandmother. Mildred enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing, quilting and other art crafts.

Mildred was preceded in death by her husband on July 7, 1998, her dad on March 12, 1977, her mother on May 19, 1994 and a sister, Joyce Boatman on July 3, 2006.

Mildred is survived by her daughters, Sharon and her husband, Fred Olney of Dripping Springs, Texas, Susan and her husband, Mark Williams of Bakersfield, California and Connie McNeil of Los Chávez, NM, eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Also surviving are sisters, Mae Hill of Belén, NM, Noreen Wilkerson and her husband, Aubrey of Albuquerque, NM and Kaye Dobbs and her husband, Clifford of Houston, Texas, brothers, C.A. Boliver of Albuquerque, NM, J.R. Boliver and his wife, Gloria of Huffman, Texas and Calvin Boliver and his wife, Freida of Los Chávez, NM as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

As per her wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 21, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at the former 1st United Methodist Church of Belén, 300 N. 3rd St., Belén, NM The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment with her husband will follow on Friday, September 22, 2006 at 11:30 a.m. at Santa Fé National Cemetery, Santa Fé, NM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in her memory to the Parkinsons Disease Foundation, Gift Processing Center, PO Box 96268, Washington, D.C. 20090-6268.
