Francisco "Frank" Luna, age 63, left us unexpectedly on Monday, March 15, 2010.
Frank was born in Hot Springs (Truth or Consequences) and lived the majority of his life in Albuquerque, NM.
Frank is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, F. Lorraine, his sons, Chris and his wife, Kathie and Damian and his partner, Jeanette, his little angel, Isabella, his mother, Erma, his sister, Lorina and numerous other family members in San Antiono and El Paso, TX, San Francisco, and Los Angeles, CA, Phoenix, AZ, and IL.
Frank was preceded in death by his father, Flavio T. Luna.
Frank graduated from Rio Grande High School (Class of 65), UNM, BBA, specializing in Industrial Management, Marketing and Finance.
Frank was employed by Kelloggs of Battlecreek as District Manager, City of Albuquerque as Director of Youth Development, Program Specialist for the Minority Business Enterprise Program, Policy Analyst, Planner and Safety Officer for the Aviation Department.
Frank retired from the City after 27 years and went to work for Chick's Harley Davidson as a motorcycle salesman where he was in "hog heaven".
Frank, who joined the United States Air Force in 1965, was a very proud Vietnam Veteran, serving as a medic at Keesler AFB Hospital, Biloxi, MS and Anchorage, AL, providing medical support each night to 300-400 air evac patients arriving from Vietnam and destined east of the Mississippi River.
Frank, who had an extraordinary talent for remodeling his home, working on motorcycles, tinkering with automobiles, was an aficionado of music, photography and the Discovery Channel, and spent endless hours on the computer. Frank's greatest pride was designation as "Grandpa Frank" by his granddaughter's classmates at Griegos Elementary School.
His family and friends will miss his opinionated remarks, brutal honesty and outrageous humor.
Visitation will be on Thursday evening in the Gabaldón Memorial Chapel from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by Deacon Jim Delgado. Final visitation will be on Friday morning at St. Therese Little Flower Catholic Church, 300 Mildred NW, at 4th St., from 8:30 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:00 a.m., Father Vincent Paul Chávez, presider. Committal Service will follow at Santa Fé National Cemetery at 11:30 a.m. Pallbearers will be Bobby Ortiz, Felix Carranza, Saudie Maéz, Orlando Váldez, Robert "Skip" Durán and Mark Perea. Honorary pallbearers are Margaret and Richard Coplen, Andie and Tony Blea, Benigna and Dee Rochester, Kate and José Ortiz, Nellie Aragón-Cushnie and Gina Paiz-Yaker.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for your support of the American Diabetes Association in honor of Frank Luna.
