PAYNE, Cynthia Orlean age 89 of Centerville, passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at the Liberty Retirement Community after a lengthy illness. She was born July 13, 1921 in Pikeville, KY, daughter of the late William & Mary Hall. She was a retired employee of the Northridge School System Food Service Dept. and had worked at the ATA in Vandalia for many years. She was a member of the VFW Post 6560 Ladies Auxiliary & American Legion 746 Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her husband, John; 1 son, John E. Payne; 2 brothers, Melvin & Richard Hall; 1 sister, Madonna Hall. Cynthia is survived by 1 daughter, Donna & husband John Keefe of Washington TWP.; 1 daughter-in-law, Sherry & husband Neil Barnhoft of Huber Heights.; 3 grandchildren Jessica & husband Carlos Linder, Stephanie & husband Jason Hofmann, and Douglas Keefe; 2 great grandchildren Wyatt & Grace Linder; and numerous other relatives & friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, July 2, 2011 at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr. Vandalia with Pastor Lonnie Bocook officiating. Burial at Poplar Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday Evening 5 to 7 pm.
