§ Henry R. Myers Deed to Bethel Church

§ County of Anderson §

Know all men by these presents that I, Henry R. Myers, of the County and State aforesaid, have this day granted, bargained, sold, alienated and conveyed and by these presents do grant for gain, sell, alienate and convey for the sum of one dollar to me in hand paid at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged unto Jacob Cook and John J. Richards, Deacons of the Primitive Baptist Church of Christ denominated Bethel Church for the use of said Church all that tract or parcel of Land Situated being lying and being on the waters of Brushy Creek, a tributary of the Neches River, in the County and State aforesaid, known and designated as a part of the tract of Land whereon I, said Myers now live.

And beginning 31 2/10 var N 63° E from the N.E. corner of the meeting house on it now
stands at a set stake from which a Blackjack 5 inches diameter bears S 82° W 15 7/10 var
dist marked X, and a sandjack of the same size and make bears S 55° E 77 8/10 var dist.
Thence S. to stake at 154 4/10 var from which a Sandjack 5 in diam. Bear N 15° E 8 9/10
Var mk X, another 8 in diam bear N 83°W 1 6/10 var dist mk X. Thence W to the branch
201 9/10 var. Thence N by E with the meanders of said Branch to the opposite point of the
beginning corner. Thence E 166 3/10 var to the place of beginning the Same estimated at
5 263/5645 acres more or less.

The Same to have and to hold forever for the privileges of a place of worship and a burying ground so long as it remains to be a church at the Same place and of the Same faith & order, but whenever the Church may Change her faith or remove the some other place as a used place of worship, then the said Land shall revert back to said Myers or his Representatives and I, the said Myers, for myself, my heirs, Executors and administrators will ever ----? and forever defend the title of Said Laid in fee simple to the Said Richards and Cook for the purposes aforesaid with the restrictions aforesaid and to their Successors in Office. To the proper use benefit and behoof of Said Church forever and also against the Claim or Claims of any person or persons whatsoever.

In Witness whereof I have hereunto Set my hand and Affixed my Seal using a Scroll for Seal this the 20th day of August, 1856 (Signed Sealed and delivered in presence of)

Before me, W. H. Vaughan, clerk of the County court and for the County of Anderson this day personally came James Majors, one of the witnesses to the foregoing deed, who is to me well known and on his Oath says that he saw Henry R. Myers, the grantee Sign, Seal and deliver the Same and heard him acknowledge that he did So for the uses and purposes therein Setforth and that he Signed the Same as a witness at the request of the grantee.
