Jack N Backhaus went home to be with the Lord on January 12, 2009. He was born April 11, 1929, Henry H and Iona (McElhaney) Backhaus in Torrington, WY. After graduating from high school, he moved to Casper where he worked until going into the Army in 1950. After the Army he returned to Casper when he worked for Armco-National Supply selling and delivering oil well equipment until his retirement in 1983.
Jack married Laverne Johnson in Casper October 14, 1954. Together they had four children, Cyndee, Mike, Sharon and Daniel. He was member of Calvary Baptist Church and the Gideons. He loved hunting and fishing and belonged to two bowling leagues for several years. He is survived by his wife, Laverne and his four children, two sisters and ten grandchildren, several nephews and nieces.

Services will be held at Calvary Baptist Church at 1:00pm Friday January 16, 2009 with burial to follow in Oregon Trail State Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations made to the Gideons or the Children’s Camp fund at Calvary Baptist Church would be appreciated.
