Peter was a postmaster and fireman for Monsey. He was also a carpenter, hotel keeper, tax collector, and store owner.
Peter and Adaline were the parents of the following children:
1. Charles Van Houten born 1866
2. Martha Washington Van Houten Safford 1869-1950
3. John Levi Van Houten born 1872
4. Glode Requa Van Houten (1876-1930). Glode married Ida May Straut. I cannot find where Glode & Ida were buried. My notes say he lived in Monsey & died in Suffern, NY. He owned a grocery store in Tallman. If anyone can find their headstones, I'd appreciate hearing from you. A picture would be wonderful! Glode and Ida had one son, Herman Chester Van Houten
5. Henry Esler Van Houten born 1881

Gravesite Details On the back side of Peter & Adaline Van Houten's headstone is the inscription for Henry Esler, their son.
