Mass of Christian Burial for Darryl D. "Doc" Simmons, 84, of Fox Lake Park, rural Sherburn was held at 10:00 a. m. Saturday, July 9, 2011 at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Sherburn with Father Larry Brixius and Father Charles Quinn as Con- Celebrants.

Doc was called to his eternal rest on Monday morning, July 4, 2011 at his home in Fox Lake Park, rural Sherburn, Minnesota.

Darryl Duane "Doc" Simmons was born July 9, 1926 in Graettinger, Iowa to Morton B. and Theresa (Rohlfs) Simmons. He received his education in schools in Armstrong, Ringsted and Halfa, Iowa. Darryl moved to Minnesota with his parents at the age of fifteen to a farm in Silver Lake Township, Martin County, Minnesota. On September 8, 1948 he was united in marriage to Adeline Mary Maday at Holy Family Catholic Church in East Chain, Minnesota. After their marriage they farmed in Martin County for a few years. In 1952 they moved to a farm just north of Alpha in Jackson County and raised cattle and pigs. Darryl took time to relax and enjoy the outdoors. He could be found hunting and fishing either in our area or within the United States including Alaska and Canada. Doc enjoyed playing golf, playing cards, shaking dice, bowling and snowmobiling. When Darryl and Adel retired in 1987 they moved to their present home on Fox Lake Park. They also would spend a few months every year during the winter in Mesa, Arizona. Doc was a member of St. Luke's Catholic Church in Sherburn, a member of the Sherburn Lions, Martin County Conservation Club, Fox Lake Conservation Club, Fox Lake Golf Club and the Mesa Moose Club.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of over sixty-two years, Adeline Simmons of Fox Lake Park, rural Sherburn, Minnesota; his three sons, Mike Simmons of Evansville, Wyoming, Max (Cindy) Simmons of rural Alpha, Minnesota and Monte (Lisa) Simmons of Engadine, Michigan; two daughters, Mary (Carl) Gregware of Fairmont, West Virginia and Marce (Larry) Sauve of St. Hiliaire, Minnesota; ten grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; sister, Daisy Theesfield of Mesa, Arizona; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ignatius and Betty Maday of rural Sherburn, Minnesota and Marge and Ralph Wimmer of Fairmont, Minnesota; special friends, Lyle "Rock" (Maggie) Reker and their children of Sherburn, Minnesota; and many other relatives and friends.

Doc was preceded in death by his parents,father and mother-in-law, Peter and Stancy Maday; granddaughter, two sisters; two brothers-in-law and other relatives and friends.
