Eileen A. Krause, 85, of 7200 Third Ave., Sykesville, Md., died Aug. 30 at Fairhaven, a retirement community in Sykesville. She had resided there since 2002. Born in Pittsfield on Aug. 26, 1921, daughter of James E. and Agnes Gallagher Gaul, she moved to Bennington as a child and was a 1939 graduate of Bennington (Vt.) High School. She also graduated from the former St. Luke's Hospital and received her degree in nursing from Boston University. Mrs. Krause served as a registered nurse in the Navy during World War II and was recalled to service during the Korean War. She was employed for many years as an teacher, first at Cherry Hill (Md.) Elementary School, then at Palmer Park (Md.) Elementary School and, finally, at Tuxedo Elementary School in Cheverly, Md. Prior to teaching, she worked as an office nurse in Silver Spring, Md. She was a communicant of St. Ambrose's Church in Cheverly and a member of its Sodality. She enjoyed reading. She and her husband, Ralph A. Krause, were married in 1951 and lived for 25 years in Cheverly. In 1980, they retired to Harwich. Mr. Krause died in 1985. She leaves a son, Lindsey Krause of Ellicott City, Md.; a brother, Robert W. Gaul of Lee, and three grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Eileen A. Krause, who died Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2006, was held Wednesday, Sept. 6, at Fairhaven Chapel in Sykesville, Md. Burial will be in Massachusetts Veterans Cemetery in Bourne, Mass. HARRY H.
