Retired Foxboro Police Patrolman

Francis J. “Joe”Strickland, age 69, retired Foxboro Police Sgt., died after a long illness at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Carl Howe.

Joe was the born in Hornell, New York on January 14, 1937 and graduated from Hornell High School with the class of 1955. He also attended Dean Academy in Franklin and graduated from the Police Academy in Brockton. He served in the U.S. Navy at Newport, RI and aboard the fleet destroyer tender U.S.S. Yellowstone in the late 1950s. He worked at the Foxboro Company later to join the Foxboro Police Department. Joe was a member of St. Alban’s Lodge A.F. & A.M., The Wrentham Sportsman Club, the Massachusetts Police Association and the Crewman of the U.S.S.Yellowstone Assoc.

Funeral Information

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend calling hours on Tuesday from 4 to 8 PM. Masonic Services will be held at 7:45 pm during calling hours.

Funeral services on Wednesday June 14 at 8:00 from the Roberts & Sons Funeral Home, 30 South Street Foxboro followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 AM at St. Mary’s Church Carpenter Street, Foxboro.

Burial will follow at the National Cemetery in Bourne. For additional information please contact 508 543-5471.
