John was the son of David and Katherine Klinedinst Burkholder, born in Harrison Twp, Grant Co, WI. He went west to seek his fortune and eventually arrived in Lincoln, NE. and worked for the railroad. He married Alice(Bray)Cameron who had two children, on July 31, 1891. They did not have any children. His grave does not have a marker.
