JAMES A. VAN DEVENTER, born in Stillwater, OK on Feb. 7, 1930, passed away peacefully at his home on April 21, 2006 with all four children by his side. Along with his children, Rod, Kay, Anne, & Sue, he was survived by his younger brother Bob and 7 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Ruth & Earl, and his wife of 52 years, Anita Van Deventer. He graduated from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater Oklahoma and became a CPA for Dow Chemical until he retired and went into private practice. Jim served in the U.S. Army as a 1st Lieutenant during the Korean War. He served with the 223rd artillery regiment at the age of 27. Memorial services were held at the Community of Christ Church where he and his wife regularly attended for the past 24 years. There will be a burial service at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Houston on Friday, April 28th at 1:30 P.M. Memorials may be addressed to the Delphians HDCSFF for the Nita Van Deventer Memorial Fund and sent to 6720 Sands Point, Suite 101, Houston, TX 77074.
