SAN LEON, TEXAS – Freeman H. "Smoky" Markham passed away Friday, March 31, 2006, at his residence in San Leon, Texas. He was born March 11, 1932, in Brinkley, Arkansas to Darl D. and Sally S. Markham. Smoky proudly made the military his career and served his country in the U. S. Marine Corps during the Korean era and in the U. S. Navy during Vietnam.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ervin Markham and grandson, Kris Ross.

A visitation service will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., on Monday, April 3, 2006, at Crowder Funeral Home in Dickinson, Texas. A graveside services will be held at 11:15 a.m., on Tuesday, April 4, 2006, at Houston National Cemetery in Houston, Texas.
