Gus John Leifeste Jr. passed away at the age of 87 in San Antonio, TX on Thurs., Dec. 3, 2009. Gus was born on November 22, 1922 in Mason, TX. Gus served in Europe during WWII. He married Maurine Lewallen on Sept. 26, 1946 in San Antonio and moved to Ft. Worth, TX. They later relocated back to San Antonio where he retired in 1985. Gus and Maurine then traveled frequently to spend time with their grandchildren. Gus enjoyed playing golf with his younger son and friends in San Antonio. Gus was active in the Lions Club. Gus is survived by his son, daughter in law, and grandchildren Gordon, Kimberly, Lauren, and Michael Leifeste of Albuquerque, New Mexico and by his son Roland Leifeste of San Antonio. Gus was preceded in death by his wife. Gus was buried at Fort Sam Houston Nat'l Cemetery on Mon., Dec.7, 2009 with full military honors. His sons, grandchildren, other family members, and friends will miss him greatly but he is at peace and with Maurine in a far greater place. Thank you dad for all you did for your family.
