Wife's Fatal Gun Wound Reported Self-Inflicted
A 44-year old woman died at 4 a.m. today in General Hospital, apparently after the victim of a self-inflicted .38-caliber revolver wound, Police said.
Police were called to 5227 E. 10th Street at 2:24 a.m. where they found Zona May lying on a bed unable to talk. She had been shot in teh right side, below the waist.
Mrs. May's husband, Thurman, 44, told police his wife spent the evening at a tavern and was brought home by her son, Tony, 19. May said his wife walked into the bedroom, opened a closet door and then a shot was heard.
A revolver with one bullet fired was found on the closet floor, police said.

Woman Dies of Gun Wound
Mrs. Zona May, 42 years old, 5227 East 10th Street, died early yesterday in Marion County General Hospital of a gunshot wound in the side which police said was self-inflicted.
Mrs. May was wounded in her home about 2:24 a.m. with a .38 caliber revolver. Police found the gun beside her body, when they were called to investigate by her husband, Thurman, 44, and her son, Tony, 19.
The men said they brought Mrs. May home from a tavern shortly after 2 a.m. and that she went to a closet got the gun and fired a slug into her right side. She died at 4 a.m.
Funeral arrangements are being made by Moore and Kirk Funeral Home.

Services Saturday, Nov. 12 at the Moore & Kirk Northeast Funeral Chapel, 2530 Station St., at 3 p.m. Friends invited.
