James Everett "Jim" Atkinson, 79 year-old Enid OK resident, was born March 6, 1930, in Enid to Ralph and Harriett (Duggan) Atkinson and died Tuesday, May 12, 2009, in St. Mary's Regional Medical Center [in Enid].

He attended local schools and graduated from Enid High School. After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. After the service he married Rosellyn Brown in 1952 in Alva OK. The couple made their home in Enid where Jim worked at Davis T.V. and later Emerick's T.V. Since 1979, he operated the Phillips-Northern Hills Golf Course which was his passion. He also enjoyed square-dancing.

He is survived by his granddaughter Stacy Carter of Enid, brothers Jack Atkinson of Elk City OK and Richard "Tink" Atkinson of Enid, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Rosellyn, sons Kent and Kevin, daughter Dianne Carter, and five brothers.
