Age 89, died January 20, 1999. Born August 21,1909 in Winn, MI, Mr. Welch was a lifetime resident of the area and formerly employed at Spartan Asphalt of Holt, retiring in 1975. He was preceded in death by a son, Larry (1986), 4 brothers, 1 sister and 2 great-grandchildren. Surviving are his beloved wife of 52 years, Elnora; 1 daughter, Adele (Patrick) Szedlak of Laingsburg; 4 sons, Paul (Noreen) of Sparta, Darwin (Leah) of Alma, Raymond (Norma) of Harrison and Allen of Alma; 17 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Basil of Blanchard and Melvin (Ione) of Mears; 1 sister, Vivian (Paul) Russell of Edmore, Funeral services will be held Monday, January 25, 12 Noon at the Gorsline-Runciman Co. East Chapel, 1730 E. Grand River Ave., East Lansing with the Rev. Howard Belknap, officiating. Interment will follow in Eastlawn Memory Gardens, Okemos. Friends may call at the Chapel begining Saturday 6 p.m. where the family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. and Sunday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Those desiring may make contributions to the American Lung Association, 403 Seymour Avenue, Lansing 48933-1179 in memory of Mr. Welch.
